HOST ORGANIZATIONS
The IEEE Industry Applications Society (IEEE-IAS) and the American Cement Association (ACA) are proud to serve as the organizing sponsors of the 2026 IEEE- IAS/ACA Cement Conference. In 2026, ACA also celebrates its 30th year hosting the Cement Conference, a role it has held since 1996 in partnership with IEEE-IAS.
IEEE IAS is a volunteer-driven organization for engineering professionals looking to advance the theory and practice of electrical and electronic systems.
The American Cement Association (ACA), founded in 1916, is the premier policy, research, education, and market intelligence organization serving America’s cement manufacturers. ACA supports sustainability, innovation, and safety while fostering continuous improvement in cement manufacturing, distribution, infrastructure, and economic growth.
History
The first conference was in 1959 in Allentown, PA with 298 registrants. The combination of the cement industry technical conference with a cement plant tour first occurred at the 1st conference with tours of Whitehall Cement and Traylor Engineering. When possible, cement plant tours continue to be part of conference programming. The U.S. cement industry produces on the order of 80–90 million tons of cement annually from about 100 active cement plants across the United States.

CONFERENCE LEADERSHIP
The Volunteers and ACA Staff Behind the Cement Conference
The Cement Industry Committee (CIC) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) are part of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) and play a central role in shaping the IEEE-IAS/ACA Cement Conference alongside the American Cement Association (ACA) staff.
CIC members—through their subcommittee assignments—provide technical leadership, peer review, and industry expertise that define the conference program. ACA works in close partnership with the CIC on conference strategy, program structure, scheduling, speaker selection, and overall direction, ensuring the event remains relevant to its members, well-balanced, and responsive to industry needs.
ACA staff also support committee efforts by managing conference planning, coordination, and on-site execution, allowing volunteers to focus on technical content and industry leadership. Together, CIC volunteers and ACA staff collaborate throughout the year to deliver a high-quality, industry-driven conference that combines technical rigor with a well-organized attendee experience.
